2005 convertible manual trans. To begin, I am not skilled enough for complex repairs. As I have done for the past 10 years, while I go away for about 5-6 months, I disconnect the negative battery terminal, put a trickle charger on the battery, and lock everything up. When I return, I use the key to open the truck, pull the driver door release, open the door, and then open the hood. When I reconnect the battery, the horn starts beeping, I press a remote button, horn stops beeping. Except today, it didn't. I tried both remotes, then replaced the batteries. The batteries were unused but not brand new, probably 4 years old.
Other than the simplest solution, getting brand new batteries, which I will do tomorrow, what would be the next steps that I could try? Thanks.
